Bridging the Skills Gap:  GACSO Members’ views on management education and skill demands of sustainability professionals

GACSO is increasingly being invited to be involved in discussions about the education and development paths for sustainability professionals.

GACSO is increasingly being seen as an organisation that needs to be involved in the discussions about the education and development paths for sustainability professionals.

In March we are working with Professor Dana Brown from EMLYON Business School (and affiliated professor at Oxford Said Business School) and Anne Augustine, Oxford City Council, Said Business School and GACSO Member, to assess the current scope and content of several MBA/MSC offerings from global business schools.

We have created two workshops, each with between 6 and 10 sustainability professionals as participants, facilitated by Anne and Dana, to evaluate management curricula in leading business schools and sustainability focused courses.

During the workshops, GACSO members will work in small teams to evaluate existing MBA curricula and courses from leading global business schools.

Evaluations will include critiques and recommendations, justified by identifying how elements of courses and learning outcomes support or fail to support particular demands of sustainability professionals.

Outcomes of the workshops will be recorded and presented in a report that summarizes key critiques and recommendations. The initial report will be made publicly available, with recognition of GACSO’s participation.

About 1 hour of advance preparation for the workshop will be required of each participant.

This is your chance to start to influence the content and direction of education for sustainability for the next generation of professionals.

Please reserve you place at either the London or Bristol workshops.
